HABC Does Not Tolerate Sexual Harassment

HABC is aware of the recent stories by the “Afro American Newspapers” and “The Real News Network” about alleged sexual harassment at Perkins Homes. HABC cares deeply about the well-being of all public housing residents and voucher participants and is committed to improving the housing opportunities and quality of life for those we serve.

HABC does not tolerate sexual harassment. The agency has received complaints from residents of several developments since 2016. However, HABC has not received any complaints of sexual harassment from Perkins Homes residents in 2017.

The agency investigates any sexual harassment complaint it receives and takes appropriate disciplinary action against any employee found to have engaged in sexual harassment. HABC also holds annual sexual harassment trainings for its employees and sends annual notices to employees, residents and participants about HABC’s sexual harassment policies and protocols. In addition, posters explaining rights and responsibilities regarding sexual harassment are placed in the management office at each development.

Residents who believe they have been victims of sexual harassment should contact the HABC Internal Audits and Investigation Unit at 410-545-6111, as well as the Baltimore City Police Department.
