Baltimore Housing Participates in the Ribbon Cutting of N. Barclay Green 3 & N. Calvert Green 2

Baltimore Housing gathered with Telesis Corporation, elected officials and other valuable partners to celebrate the recent completion of two Barclay Redevelopment Projects: The North Barclay Green 3 (Rental Phase 3A) and the North Calvert Green 2 (Homeownership Phase 2B). Both development sites are located in the Barclay/Midway/Old Goucher (BMOG) neighborhood.

North Calvert Green 2 includes 12 rehabilitated row homes on 20th Street that are available for homeownership. North Barclay Green 3 is a 57 unit, mixed-use property that consists of three floors of new construction residential units over ground floor retail and community space. Nine units are reserved for the chronically homeless and three units are reserved for persons with disabilities.

In April 2005, Baltimore Housing acquired the 91-unit Barclay Town Homes from HUD. The agency bundled the properties with 102 units of vacant public housing scattered sites and 107 vacant city-owned lots and buildings in the area to compile an exciting and attractive development offering. Telesis Corporation was selected by Baltimore Housing and the Barclay/Midway/Old Goucher (BMOG) communities in 2006 to serve as the master developer for the large-scale, multiphase revitalization effort in the BMOG neighborhood. Working with the community, Baltimore Housing and the Department of Planning, Telesis created a master development plan that called for the new construction and rehabilitation of 322 housing units, of which 199 will be rental and 123 will be homeownership. Construction of the project began in 2010 and is proceeding in phases over approximately 8 years. Total project costs are expected to total $90 million.
